Saturday and Sunday

Team La Esperanza met at the Sacramento airport well before dawn on Saturday morning. We flew down to San Diego and met up with our cargo truck. We loaded into a caravan of vans and headed for the border. The border crossing and drive down was mostly uneventful, and we arrived at Clinica La Esperanza before dark. After unloading the truck, eating dinner, and introductions and brief orientation with missionaries here, we were tired and ready for some shut-eye.

On Sunday morning we attended church at Iglesia Hermosa (Beautiful Church). Since Sunday is our day off and sabbath, there was free time in the afternoon. Some folks headed to explore the nearby larger town of San Quintin while others went to the beach.

Tomorrow (Monday) we will start our work projects and outreach to the children at the migrant camp.

Made it safely

The team made it safely to La Esperanza on Saturday. In fact they were at the site by early evening which is probably the quickest travel time in the 15 years FOPC has sent a team. They are looking forward to working hard this next week.

Leaving soon

The La Esperanza team will be meeting at the airport tomorrow (Saturday, July 29) at oh-dark-hundred and heading down to San Diego. Once there they will meet up with our trusty truck driver, Jim, load into multiple vans and head on down to Mexico. The drive usually takes about 6 hours depending on border time, road detours, etc.
The team is 46 members strong and consists of multiple generations of missionaries. Please pray for travel mercies, good health and that God would be glorified in all that they do.

Most of the team at the FOPC auction last March.
